The mission of the Bill Evans Piano Academy (BEPA) is to provide customized training programs designed to further musical careers.
BEPA is specialized in the teaching of improvised music (primarily jazz and Latin American music). Training may be financed by students themselves or by vocational-training organizations, etc. (see Financing your musical studies). Courses are designed in such a way as to offer students a balanced mix in theoretical and instrumental studies.
BEPA provides a range of courses for pianists, singers, bass players and drummers, as well as for self-taught, amateur, classical and professional musicians and teachers.
The academic program is organized over three, 2-year cycles, plus a postgraduate cycle.
Students having completed the program should be able to play in any musical context or, if they choose, teach jazz.
